PRP Meeting: December 3rd, 2001 at 7 - 9 pm
Jewish Community Center - Located at 5870 W. Olympic Boulevard

At our December 2001 general meeting various city officials presented programs that are helping us to make Pico Boulevard a better place. Sylvia Lacy (CD 10) and representatives from Mayor Hahn's Office updated us on the Targeted Neighborhood Imitative (TNI), a new effort that strategically focus resources to revitalize communities throughout LA. A portion of Pico Boulevard -- specifically between W Blvd. and Sierra Bonita Avenue -- is one of the first TNI areas to be funded, and is working closely with the Pico Revitalization Project to coordinate efforts. The first phase of the project, which includes funding of $250,000, will focus on two types of improvement:

1. Public Improvements (for example, street benches, trash cans, bus stops). LA Public Works will be coordinating many of these improvements, and the person to contact is Majorie Kasper.
2. Facade Improvements (for example, signage, facades). The Community Redevelopment Agency of LA (CRA) coordinates this portion of the project, and Steven Jones is the person to contact with any questions.

A more detailed listing of city contacts is available here.
